My condo has a terrace that has no protection above it. Can I use a Pet Patio Potty™ in such a situation?
Because there is a layer of absorbent litter
below the gravel or synthetic K9Grass in the trays of the Pet Patio Potty™, the potty should
be covered when it is raining or snowing. See our How
It Works page.
There are two options when placing the Pet Patio
Potty™ in
an open environment:
- If you are typically with your pet when
he uses his Pet Patio Potty™, you can use the Low Profile
model and simply cover the potty with its' Sunbrella™ canvas
cover when a rain or snow storm is expected to avoid unnecessary
exposure
to environmental
moisture. In addition, you can choose to provide additional protection
using a patio umbrella or awning. In areas of the country where there is little rain or snow, this model may also be perfectly adequate.
- Alternatively, many
dog owners prefer to purchase the Elevated
Canopy Model which
was designed specifically with open areas such as your terrace
in mind. This potty comes equipped with Plexiglas panels on
three sides and its' cover is elevated over the potty. This
unique design has the dual advantages of allowing your dog
to use the potty in bad weather without getting drenched while
also protecting the potty from this environmental moisture.
This model is ideal for those dog and puppy owners who
let their pets use a dog door to access the potty at all times.
An optional weather
protection flap is available for those Elevated Canopy units placed in areas
that are more exposed
to blowing rain and snow or to windy conditions. The flap simply
snaps in place to protect the open side of the unit during
inclement
weather.
